Privacy Policy

The short version: your documents are processed by your own device and are never sent anywhere. There is no account, no cloud, and no way for us to see what you scan.

Your documents

All scanning happens locally in your browser: camera capture, edge detection, perspective correction, filters, signature placement and PDF generation run as JavaScript and WebAssembly on your device. Your current document, imported images, pending photo and editing settings are saved as a local draft in your browser's IndexedDB storage so you can resume after closing the tab. Use Clear document in the scanner to remove that draft. Browser storage can be cleared by you or your browser; download important documents. Images never touch our servers — the application is served as static files and has no upload endpoint.

Your signature

If you draw a signature, it is saved in your browser's local storage on your device so you don't have to redraw it next time. It is never transmitted. You can remove it by clearing site data for scandocument.app in your browser.

Analytics

We use Know to measure visits to public pages and visits by search-engine and AI crawlers. Our browser integration removes cookie identifiers, campaign parameters, referrers and outbound link URLs before sending events, and uses a temporary identifier that lasts only until the page reloads. It does not send your documents, signature, query parameters or form data. When you open another tool in our document toolkit, we record only which tool you selected (Scan, Translate, Edit or Convert), without sending the link URL or document. For crawler requests, we send the public hostname, pathname, request method and User-Agent. Know classifies the raw User-Agent and does not store it. We do not use advertising trackers and we do not sell data.

Cookies and local data

The site stores a service-worker cache, your current document draft and, optionally, your drawn signature. These live entirely on your device. Our Know integration does not create analytics cookies or use browser storage. Its random analytics identifier is kept in memory until the page reloads.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with an updated effective date.
